About us
Durham Alliance Association Social Club (DAASC) / Club 717: A Proud History in Durham Region
Since its inception in 1987 and official incorporation on May 10, 1990, the Durham Alliance Association Social Club (DAASC), known today as Club 717, has been a cornerstone of the 2SLGBTQI+ community in the Durham Region. What began as a modest program in 1995 has grown into a vibrant, welcoming establishment, offering a positive, safer, and inclusive environment where everyone can feel embraced, accepted, and free to be themselves.
As a not-for-profit organization, Club 717 thrives on the dedication of its volunteer Board of Directors, who are elected by our paid members to oversee the club's operations. The heart of Club 717 lies in its community of volunteers, including DJs and bar staff, who work tirelessly to create a space where patrons can relax, have fun, and connect. Their passion and commitment have made Club 717 one of the longest-running, safest, and most respected 2SLGBTQI+ spaces in the region.
Each week, Club 717 hosts an exciting drag show featuring talented performers from across the Durham Region and beyond, bringing vibrant energy and entertainment to our stage. We are proud to provide a diverse range of social events that foster a sense of belonging and community spirit. We invite you to join us as a guest or a volunteer and become part of our enduring legacy.
